Defense just isn’t part of the game plan for Washington, they’re allowing 123.2 points per game which is the 3rd highest mark in the entire NBA.
They just got beat badly by the Dallas Mavericks 130-117 which was their 4th loss in a row. Playing that fast hasn’t yielded much success for the Wizards, they’re just 2-9 SU in 11 games and have only 1 win in 4 games at Capital One Arena. They’ll have to up their tempo in tonight’s game though as Washington ranks 1st in pace at 104.9 possessions per game.
The three-point shot has been falling for the Knicks consistently lately – over their past 5 games they’ve cashed on 16, 15, 15, 19 and 12 shots from distance resulting in 4 wins. With Charlotte having a tough game vs Milwaukee, there’s a good chance a Knicks win would put them over the Hornets in the Group B standings.
That now makes them 1-1 on their current 5-game road trip and with the next 2 games being at Washington and Charlotte, they have a solid opportunity to climb up the standings. Jalen Brunson was once again the hero for the Knicks as he scored 24 points, including what turned out to be the game winning shot against the Atlanta Hawks as New York came out on top 116-114 on Wednesday.
